Finding time to read while raising a baby is HARD! Since becoming a mom a little over a year ago, I just have not found much time to read, and there’ve been lots of books I’ve wanted to dive into. I’m always trying to learn and grow, so personal development books spark serious interest for me.
Any time I may have picked up a book before, has now become time for laundry, folding, dishes, cleaning, and bedtime stories. I mean, my gosh, I never imagined all of the time that cleaning up a high chair mess would take up every day.
So, lately, I’ve turned to books on audio
I’ve been loving listening to podcasts for years (check out my favorite podcasts here), but haven’t been big on audiobooks until recently. Earlier this year, when I so badly wanted to read Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis, I created an Audible account and took advantage of the free trial. With the free trial, I received 1 credit, good for 1 free audiobook. So, with that, I listened to Girl, Wash Your Face for free. Note: You can get free credit with a free trial by clicking my link here, good for a free audiobook. You can cancel the free membership at any time and still keep your audiobooks.* (#ad)
Since creating my Audible account, I’ve downloaded and listened to others books, including Becoming by Michelle Obama, Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis, Body Love by Kelly LeVeque, Start with Why by Simon Sinek, and Unfu*k Yourself by Gary John Bishop. I pre-ordered Marie Forleo’s book Everything is Figureoutable, which will be out in September. I’ve also added a bunch of morning mediations and audio guided yoga and strength training programs to my library, which I can listen to any time.
My husband also took advantage of the free trial and downloaded 2 audiobooks by Grant Cardone. He cancelled the trial membership once the 30 day mark was approaching, but still listens to those books on repeat on his phone.
My favorite part is that each of the books on audio I’ve listened to are narrated by the authors themselves.
Nowadays, I’m listening to books while in the shower, driving, cooking and cleaning… because this mom life is a busy life!!
I’ll be the first to admit there’s nothing like physically getting into a good book and actually reading through the pages… I’m sure I’ll find the enjoyment in that again within time. 😅
