As a mom of two young children (ages 4 and 6), I know firsthand how important it is to carefully curate the books that fill our little one’s minds and shelves. Books are more than just stories — they can be tools for teaching our kids about the world, instilling healthy life skills, and encouraging mindfulness from an early age. After countless story time sessions, I’m excited to share a list of 15 wonderful children’s books that we have loved reading together. Each book on this list is a gem, carefully selected to foster healthy habits, life skills, mindfulness, and creativity in kids aged 4-7.
Here are what I’ve found to be 15 of the best books for kids:
1. Ellie’s Masterclass by Melissa Kahl
Topping the list is a beautiful children’s book written and illustrated by my very own sister! In the book, Ellie (who happens to be my real-life Golden Retriever niece) shares some of the lessons she’s learned throughout her years of travel and adventure. She encourages readers to remember the importance of play, exploration, healthy habits, friendships, and wonder. It’s an inspiring masterclass, with incredible hand-painted illustrations.
2. A Garden In Your Belly by Masha D’yans
This book takes kids on a whimsical journey inside the human body.
