It can be hard to drink green smoothies. They’re not always the most pleasant tasting, but we know they’re good for us so we try our best.
Well give this recipe a try, and you may find it easier to drink to your health. It really does’t have that green flavor. No broccoli, chalky taste here! It’s more like blueberries meets banana meets vanilla. One of my favorites 😋
Spinach, Banana & Blueberry Green Smoothie
Ingredients:
- 1 medium banana
- 1 cup fresh spinach (about 1 large handful) [frozen works too]
- 1/4 cup blueberries (a small handful) [I usually use frozen blueberries]
- 1 heaping spoonful vanilla yogurt (I use Stonyfield Organic)
- 2/3 cup almond milk (or the milk of your choice)
- 3 – 4 cubes ice
Instructions:
- Blend above ingredients well and enjoy
Benefits:
- Spinach is one of the most nutrient-dense foods you can eat. It’s is very low in calories, but at the same time, very high in vitamins and minerals such as Vitamin A, Vitamin K, Manganese, Folate, Magnesium, and Iron. I recommend always going with organic spinach when possible, because it tops the list (under strawberries) for being one of the most contaminated foods by pesticides.
- Bananas are packed with Potassium, making them good for your heart and muscles. Also, they’re a great workout recovery food.
- Blueberries are packed with antioxidants, protecting your body from cancer causing free-radicals. They are excellent for brain health and improving memory.
- Yogurt is a great source of protein. It also contains probiotics which help keep your digestive tract and immune system healthy.
