Happy New Year! It feels so good to sit down and write to you again after a bit of a holiday hiatus. Life as a mom got the best of me during the last couple of months, as I’m sure many of you can relate. Between holiday parties, crafting with my daughter’s class, squeezing in home projects, and soaking up precious time with my kids while on break, the days were full.
But with the start of a fresh year, I’m feeling ready and excited to reconnect and share the things I’ve been loving and working on. I hope this email brings you inspiration and positivity as we jump into 2025 together!
Here are this week’s Three Things for Thursday:
1. Setting Intentions for the Year Ahead
The new year isn’t about resolutions for me anymore. I’ve learned that setting intentions – things I’d like to experience, learn, practice, or do over the course of the year ahead – feels more natural, especially during this season of rest in the northern hemisphere.
Early winter is a time for reflection, gratitude, and gentle planning, aligning with nature’s rhythm of rest and renewal. Instead of diving into tough goals, I now use this time to create space for ideas and intentions to bloom, saving the “go for it” energy for spring.
I’ve written a blog post on my favorite Ritual of Reflection and Intention, which involves cozying up with a favorite notebook and reflecting on the past year before envisioning the ideal year ahead. It’s a beautiful process that sets a positive tone.

2. 12 Spices and Herbs to Support Your Health
Spices and herbs are more than flavor enhancers—they’re powerful health allies. They add warmth and vitality to winter meals while supporting immunity and overall health.
From the antioxidant-rich cinnamon in your morning coffee to the anti-inflammatory turmeric in golden milk, these pantry staples can transform meals and uplift wellness.
🍃 Here are 12 of my favorites: Cinnamon, Turmeric, Black Pepper, Garlic, Rosemary, Basil, Ginger, Thyme, Oregano, Sage, Paprika, and Cayenne Pepper.

3. Mood-Boosting Foods for Winter Blues
With gray skies and shorter days, it’s normal to feel a little “blah” during winter. The good news? Food can be a powerful mood booster.
Nutrients like omega-3s, vitamin D, magnesium, and B vitamins can uplift your spirits and improve energy. Some of my favorite mood-boosting foods include:
- Wild-caught salmon
- Pastured eggs
- Leafy greens
- Fermented foods (like yogurt and sauerkraut)
- Dark chocolate
These small, intentional choices can make a big difference in how you feel.
