I hope you’re having a great week! Popping in with the latest round of Three Things for Thursday – spring theme! |
1. Seed Starting & Bulb/Tuber Planting Indoors: Prepping for a Thriving Garden Spring begins just two weeks from today, making now the perfect time to start seedlings indoors and get a jump on planting bulbs and tubers inside. I like starting my tomatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, eggplant, Brussels sprouts, and collard greens indoors because they transplant well once the weather warms up. Most other seeds I direct sow later in the spring. This is also the perfect time to start summer-blooming bulbs and tubers indoors to give them a strong start before transplanting them outside. I like to start canna lilies, elephant ears, dahlias, and even potatoes indoors this time year. If you have potatoes that have started to sprout, plant them! Growing potatoes in pots is simple and rewarding. Here is a link to a video I found helpful on how to grow potatoes in pots. If you’re starting seeds indoors, having a good grow light can make a huge difference in strong, healthy seedlings. Here is a low-cost grow light similar to what I use. |
2. Spring as the Season of Renewal & Intention Setting While most people see January 1st as the time for resolutions and fresh starts, I’ve found that spring feels like a more natural time for it. The longer days, the warming air, and the return of life outdoors naturally provides more energy and positivity. Just as nature begins to wake up and grow, we too can use this time to reflect, set intentions, and take action toward the life we want to cultivate. Here’s a simple intention-setting ritual for spring: Reflect on the Past Season: Before looking ahead, take some time to acknowledge the past few months. What has felt good? What hasn’t? What lessons have you learned? Reflection is key to moving forward with clarity, so jot down a few thoughts in a journal. Envision the Season Ahead: Imagine it’s the first day of summer. What do you want to have created or experienced between now and then? Think about personal growth, relationships, health, creativity, or even daily habits. Write these down as if they have already happened – this helps your brain and body align with your goals. Set Intentions with Feeling: Intentions are different from goals. Instead of just listing tasks, focus on how you want to feel. Do you want to feel more energized? More present with your family? More at peace in your home? Once you define how you want to feel, align your actions to support those emotions. Make It Visible & Revisit Often: Don’t let your intentions get lost in a notebook! Write them somewhere you’ll see them. The more you revisit them, the more likely you are to stay aligned with what truly matters to you. |
3. Bee Pollen for Seasonal Allergies & Springtime Wellness With spring’s arrival comes blooming flowers, longer days, and unfortunately for many – seasonal allergies. But did you know that bee pollen may help your body build resistance to pollen allergies? Consuming small amounts of local bee pollen can help your body gradually adapt to seasonal pollen, reducing allergy symptoms over time. Beyond allergies, bee pollen is packed with vitamins, minerals, and enzymes that support energy, immunity, and overall well-being – making it a great addition to your daily routine. You can easily sprinkle it on yogurt, pancakes, blend it into smoothies, or stir it into oatmeal. I wrote a blog post all about the benefits of bee pollen, so if you’re curious to learn more (or want ideas on how to incorporate it into your routine), check it out here: https://www.honestandwell.com/bee-pollen-benefits/ |
