I’ve been loading up on herbs and spices since learning all about their health benefits and medicinal purposes (which you can read about here), so the small spice shelf in our pantry quickly began overflowing. The time had come to switch some things around. I figured having dried spices and herbs in the drawer closest to the stove would make the most sense, and it has proved to be very convenient.
This drawer is a whopping 36″ wide – prime real estate for my spice revolution. After getting all 24 spice jars in, there was still lots of open room, so I added in baking extracts, tea, honey, and some of my favorite essential oils bottles.
From the jars and display rack, to the spices and herbs themselves, here’s everything I used to create our kitchen spice drawer.
Spice Drawer Rack:
Lynk Professional Adjustable Expandable 4 Tier Steel Spice Rack Tray Drawer Organizer
This is a steel rack, so it’s very sturdy and durable. Again, this was to fill our very wide kitchen drawer, so I went with the expandable rack. If you have a smaller drawer, there are smaller racks available by the same brand. Make sure to choose the correct size for your need when checking out on Amazon!
Empty Refillable Spice Jars with Labels:
Aozita 24 Pcs Glass Spice Jars/Bottles – 4oz Empty Square Spice Containers with 810 Spice Labels
I used up every one of these 24 spice jars, so next time I add a spice to my collection, I’ll have to use either an unmatching jar, or buy these again. If you have a large drawer to fill, you may want to go with this 36 piece set instead: Aozita 36 Pcs Glass Spice Jars with 810 Spice Labels – 4oz Empty Square Spice Bottles.
I used the labels that came with the jars, but it you’re looking for nice labels alone, here’s an option: Talented Kitchen 134 Spice Jar Labels Preprinted, White Letters on Clear Sticker.
Spices:
I buy almost all of our spices and dried herbs from Thrive Market. Thrive Market is my favorite online grocer. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s definitely something worth looking into. It’s a membership-based grocer, like a BJ’s or Sam’s Club, but they sell healthy, mostly organic products at discounted prices. I’ve been using it for over five years and I love it. Almost all of our pantry food comes from Thrive Market, as well as vitamins, clean household products, sunscreens, and other body care products. They offer free shipping on orders over $49, and often throw in a free members gift on orders over $49 as well, which has been a major perk!
So there ya have it…. everything I purchased to organize, label, and fill my herb and spice drawer. Having everything lined up and visible makes them so much easier to cook with and utilize!
Happy organizing, and happy cooking!
